Am i eligible for unemployment if i get fired for being convicted of a felony that has nothing to do with my job?-NY

I was recently arrested for a felony charge in nys. I am going through the court process right now and still have my job. I was told by my job that i would be fired if i got anything other than an acquittal in this matter. I am at the stage in court proceedings were i will most likely have to take a plea and admit guilt to save myself from going to jail. I expect that my employer will fire me when i do. Can i still collect unemployment being this matter had nothing to do with my job?

Hi Anonymous,

I think you need this page of the interpretation index. Read the "Special Bulletin" If you read on beneath that link, you will notice that there may be exceptions depending on what your job is. Number 10 specifically.
