My wife's father got sick and we had to go to Florida. I missed a couple days of work and now I am getting fired. I explained to them about the situation and the absences were still held against me. We are moving to Florida to take care of her father. Would it be better if i quit or got fired to receive unemployment. i currently live in Indiana.

Hi Delmar,

Well, for goodness sake .. don't quit. Quitting in anticipation of discharge is disqualifying.

But I'm having a little trouble with the reason you say you are being fired for.

Getting fired takes about 5 minutes .. why do you think you still have time to quit?
