Can I collect enemployment if I got cut from 5 days a week to 4 days a week?

by Barbara
(Wellsville, NY)

I have been working 5 days a week (40 hours) for a year and was cut down to 32 hours a week. I am making $10.. per hour. Can I apply for unmployment for the one day of lost wages?

Barbara,

You can apply .. and it's probably smart to apply now .. in case your hours are cut more, but I seriously doubt that at 32 hours a week you will be able to collect a partial benefit because you are still, most likely making more than what they will determine to be your weekly benefit amount for "total unemployment"
