Unemployed Stories

Can I collect unemployment if I was fired for posting my resume

I was fired because I was looking for another job and I posted my resume on a job board (anonymous) and my Boss saw it and fired me the next day and said I hurt the integrity of the company.

Now mind you, I was looking for another job because my pay was cut, and layoffs were in the works.

I also heard through the grapevine that my Boss was looking to replace me.

So.. I filed for unemployment, told the truth, and it now has to go to the legal side and then they make a decision from there.

I am in North Carolina

Hi,

Minus anymore details .. looking for another job is not misconduct connected with the work .. they are free to fire us .. we are free to look for other work.

Why on earth would it go to the legal side .. unless your employer appealed your benefits being allowed .. ?
