Can I continue to collect Florida benefits if I move to NY to look for work?

by toni
(florida)

I am originally from NY but have been living in Florida for 7 years. In Feb 2009 I and many others lost our jobs due to office closure. I have been collecting Florida benefits since Feb.
I would like to relocate back to NY to look for work as I feel there are far more opportunities.
Would I still be able to collect my benefits if I move to another state?

Thank you!!

Hi Toni,

Yes, this is very possible to do. Just make sure to follow the procedures for notifying Florida and what you will be required to do when you get to NY.

I believe you'll find our most of what you need to do to get started in the Florida FAQ's.
