Unemployed Stories

Fired-violation of company rules and policies.

by Darlene
(Tx)

On May 5, 2009 I was scheduled to drive to TX, (two hours away) at approximately 6:45 A.M. I called my immediate supervisor () to inform him that I wasn't feeling well and that I had gotten called out twice during the night which resulted in my not getting the proper rest needed. I also told him that I needed to go back home and go to bed because I wasn't feeling well. His reply was that he would go for me as was talked about the day before, but he had to stay in town. Being that I had been placed on an 18 month probation period I felt that I had no other choice but to go to. During the trip back to My office someone called the driver alert number on the back of the vehicle. The next morning the AED called me in his office terminated me and stated did you really think you were going to last 18 months because he knew I wouldn't.

I spoke with a higher up about being placed on 18 month probation and he informed me that no one is placed on probation for that long of a period of time. So with all that being said I don't feel like I ever really had a fair chance once I was placed on such a long probation and the fact that AED said he knew I wouldn't make it leads me to believe I was set up to fail.

Company policy states 2 Call ins verbal warning, 3 written warning 4 may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Hi Darlene,

Wrong policy .. unless you were discharged for attendance.

Why were you placed on probation?
