Frugal Grocery Shopping and Frugal Couponing Tips

Frugal Grocery Shopping was the first and easiest of ways to begin my journey toward living the frugal life.

When I became unemployed, I had to find ways to save money wherever I could. That's when moderate couponing became a mild obsession not extreme.

Moderation is working out well for me.

I just wanted to find creative ways to live as well and as healthy as possible within an unemployed budget.

Not stockpile extreme amounts of perishable items that I would never be able to make use of.

Save money and then waste not what you saved on is the epitome of living frugal for me.

The first place where expenses are usually cut is in the monthly budget for groceries. Obviously rent and utilities are not going to decrease but what remains is limited income that has to be stretched to go further.

Frugal Grocery Shopping and Couponing!

The obvious thing I had to learn first was to grocery shop with less money but still have the same amount of food and necessities to get by.

This Takes A Little Amount Of Time To Learn The Ropes, But It Can Be Done!

My frugal grocery shopping and couponing tips took time and research. But, my first substantial savings, ignited a fire to save more and a frugal grocery shopper was born.

The goals I set were realistic and obtainable.

My idea of Frugal Coupon Living is a realistic approach to trying to find ways to live as full as I can within a set budget.

I have consistently seen savings of 40%-60% in my monthly grocery bill.

Frugal Grocery Shopping and Couponing Tips - 7 Steps To Get You Started

I belong to a few Facebook coupon pages, so I asked some of my fellow couponers to give their tips for frugal grocery shopping with coupons.

1. Join free coupon websites. But beware, there are so many out there that your inbox can become overwhelmed with emails. There are a few I have found to be very beneficial in my couponing quest.

2. Begin picking up the Sunday paper. Clip every coupon from the inserts. Even if you don't buy the brand product. Expert couponers say eventually deep savings can be found by clipping the coupons for items you don't use because the product will go on sale. Also this is good for coupon swapping because what you don't buy, a fellow couponer will.

3. Social Networking! Facebook is a good place to get coupons, if there are particular items that you use a lot of, sometimes you can get coupons by "liking" their page. Sometimes you can even get free samples too! This is also where you can join groups in your area that people have started and read the threads, you can get some good tips and advice on where to shop and how to coupon if you are new to the game and even if you aren't.

4. Organize your coupons! Buy a binder and some plastic inserts that will allow you to organize your coupons by type and expiration date.

5. Pay attention to sales and clearances at stores! Learn the sales cycles and learn the stores coupon acceptance policies where you shop. This is where you can get deep savings if you can take a store coupon for an item and then stack it with a manufacturer's coupon. Double bonus when the item is also clearanced!

6. There is a Couponing Etiquette! Learn it! One rule of thumb: Don't upset other shoppers and the employees at the store, this will not only make your shopping experience more stressful, but it could be a factor in the store changing their coupon acceptance policy! Be prepared and organized at the check out, people don't like it when someone is un-organized and they have to stand in line waiting because you aren't prepared. You don't want to stress out the clerk at the register either by complications, you make them unhappy it will be an unpleasant shopping experience! And shopping is supposed to be fun!

7. Don't be a little piggy! Don't clear shelves, save some of the sale items for others! I know this may be tempting, but don't do it!
