I got laid off july 2010. i started to get unemployment benefits september 2010. i started to work dec. 6 at a PT job, working 18 hrs a week. after my first week i still claim weekly benefits n stated i work 3 days. the next 2 weeks i claimed full time forgetting that i worked 3 days of the week. i didnt realized until it hit my acct the second time what I had done. I was so caught up with final exams as i was still in school. I recently returned from Jamaica and received a letter from them wanting to know what happen? what shoudl i tell them? what will happen to my benefits?

Truth

I would simply tell them the truth. They will have you pay back what you were overpaid. The truth is you messed up. You were not purposefully trying to defraud the government. You simply messed up. Stress the finals, apologize and work out a payment plan. Simple as that.
