Unemployed Stories

I work in California and was fired because someone else stole a deposit.

by Becky
(California)

I was terminated for leaving two deposits in my safe. The main concern was that the opening assistant did not take both deposits to the bank. I had no clue that it was against policy to have 2 deposits in the safe, I thought if the deposits totaled under 4000 I would be ok. However because one was stolen I am being held accountable. If the other person would have not lost the deposit then nothing would have happened because I have had two deposits in the safe before and my district manager did not tell me we could not do that. Had it not been for the asm stealing the deposit I would not have been fired. Will I qualify for benefits???

Hi Becky,

Can you tell me what the cash handling policy says?
