If I get free rent will that affect my unemployment?

by Maria
(California)

Hello I am on-site manager and I receive free rent for collecting rent, renting units and cleaning the building, will that affect my unemployment benefits? I don't receive money just the rent but the company will declare that free rent as a salary at the end of the year,

Hi,

I believe it will have an effect on your unemployment and should be reported as income, because room and board is considered wages .. and although you need to report it .. it is also income that should increase the WBA. If you understand the partial benefit formula .. that's not a bad thing .. it's a good thing.
