If my job is reduced from 5 days to 4 days per week, can I apply for unemployment for the 5th day??

If my job is reduced from 5 days to 4 days per week, can I apply for unemployment for the 5th day??

Well you can apply, but my guess .. minus what state you are located in .. is that unless your state offers and the employer has chosen to participate in a work share benefit program .. you wouldn't even get a partial unemployment benefit because a good rule of thumb is benefits will amount to about 50 percent of what you normally earn per week .. up to a state's max benefit amount.

In order to receive partial unemployment you can't earn more than your weekly benefit amount for the partial benefit formula to kick in.
