Q-who will assist me and guid me to getting started?
Q-what are my options?
Q-where do i start?
Q-why would going to school on the governments dime stop me from collecting unemployment if my job is untransferable?
Q-when should i apply if my EAS= end of active service is july 9th 2011?
Q-how do i use unemployment to my benefit?
Q-would i even qualify?
Hi David,
Just two very small words first that can't even begin to express my gratitude.
Thank you.
Unemployment for returning Military.
It's a special unemployment program called
UCX for Ex-military members.
I only know so much about UCX. I also believe you may have some additional options as far as money for living expenses if you do go to school.
“Implementation of the New Post-9/11 GI Bill
Looking Back and Moving Forward”So as far as going to college I suggest you begin research here,
US Department of Veteran AffairsAs far as unemployment benefits go .. each state should have someone specially trained in UCX because as far as benefits go .. the state you reside in and apply in after you come home run the show as far as weekly benefit amounts and continuing eligibility, but UCX does play a part in the decision making process.
Every state has a program that allows for a suspension of the job search while training, but there is a limit to the length of any unemployment benefit .. in the worst of states and including federal extensions that length of time is presently 99 weeks, but if you haven't heard .. the senate is still squabbling over another extension and I am not exactly certain how extensions work in their entirety or for how long they will be allowed.
For information on federal extensions I recommend
unemployedworkers.org which I believe is an advocacy program of NELP (National Employment Law Project).
Let me know if I can help you find any of the information for the questions I'm certain I missed.
