Unemployed Stories

medical reasons with a doctor's explanation during the probation period.

by Shay
(Rochester, NY)

I just started a part time job about 1 month ago that required 4 plus hours of standing and bending. Unfortunately, I had a foot injury and the doctor appointment was the morning of the day I was scheduled to work. The doctor put me out of work for the rest of the day. Later that same week I had a major cyst develop that required a different doctor visit and that doctor put me out of work for 2 weeks and on antibiotics. I now find out that I will need surgery and be out of work at least 3 more weeks.

Unemployment will be very possible, provided you are otherwise eligible.

But you would most likely be denied until you are able and available for work again and can provide medical documentation stating that you are released to work again.
