Unemployed Stories

My spouse lost his job and after many months, we had to move to a less expensive state

by Jenny
(North Carolina)

My husband was looking and is still looking for another job and is collecting unemployment benefits, but we could not afford to stay in Northern Virginia with my small salary and his unemployment. We had to sell our home and move to a less expensive area in another state. I tried to register in our new area with the unemployment office to look for a job, but they told me I cannot register with them because I have never worked here.

Hi Jenny,

What do you mean they wouldn't let you register for work? I can't believe that!!

I hope you didn't mean apply for unemployment benefits.
