Quit Job, Can I Collect NYS Unemployment

I live in Bronx County, had a job that required me to report to Kearney, NJ at a Truck Terminal, I used my old 97 Honda CRV to get to and from the terminal, paying 12 dollars daily for tolls, recently the car died on me, now I don't have a car to get to work, can I request Unemployment insurance, while looking for another job ?

You can request it, but unless you have a better reason than that for quitting .. I doubt you'll get it. You'd have to live and work in Connecticut for that one to fly .. at least that is my opinion.

I believe you would have had to ask all fellow employees, as well as, all friends and family for help getting to work. In other words you would have had to exhaust all avenues in your attempt to get to work.

Good point, but this person didn't even mention one of the things most reasonable people would first mention .. the problem with getting the broken down vehicle fixed ..

So why even bother with moving on and explaining the efforts needed to attempt to preserve the job .. again.
