How I Learned to Build Websites

Six years ago .. quit the day job was a hot internet topic that had all kinds of get rich quick gurus crawling out from underneath their rocks ready to hook any deparate desperado they could sink their their sales pitch into.

But luckily for me, I don't eat worms.

The more I read the more disbelieving and repulsed I became. Every sales pitch was using the same bait in the same order and all were meant to play on a feeling of desperation.

Well, I might have been desperate, but not enough to override my common sense.

Every form of search I used .. how to build a website, how to earn money with a website, how to earn a living online without crawling under a rock first ..

Never mentioned the one thing I reasonably knew must be involved with building a real web based business I could call my own ..

WORK! I knew it must take work or every Tom, Dick and Harry in the country would be rich beyond their wildest dreams already.

Me .. I just wanted to be able to replace the fifteen bucks an hour I had to slave for .. then I'd quit the damn job that sometimes made me feel like I was in a hopeless situation.

But still, I remained enticed because I really wanted a legitimate way out of the job.

I just kept digging like a gopher for something else to finally strike an honest chord.

One day after emailing my resume for any job I thought I was qualified for (I would have applied to be a pooper scooper if I'd seen the ad) I started on the rest of my daily unemployed routine.

It was time to google again about what had me stumped and no one wanted to share until I clicked buy now.

All I wanted to know .... Can I build a website and if I do actually make some money will I still be able to walk around with my head up?

That day, I was feeling a little desperate because I paid $47 dollars for an ebook that promised understanding to those willing to work.

But, that wasn't the book that made things clear, except that I finally figured out I wasn't interested in learning how to build a website.

But buried deep within the $47 book, which by the way, stood as a prime example of what internet affiliate marketing is all about was a link to a free ebook.

That book was when that vague seed of an idea finally got a little water.

Ultimately, I read some more free ebooks written by the same man.

His name was Ken Evoy and he's the founder of SBI also known as Site Build It or Sitesell.

Here's my favorite, Why People Fail.

PS .. I quit my job three years ago in 2009 and not because I was earning fistfuls of money. I wasn't earning a dime, but I had traffic by golly!!

So, it wasn't long after, I started closing in on that fifteen buck an hour when I finally focused on making a living from my website.

I've now past that mark and my head is still straight up .. because earning a legitimate living from a business whether in the real world or on your own tiny little corner of the internet is all about offering something you have that there is a demand for and then making sure others feel the value of it.
