Can you collect unemployment if you were fired because you needed eye surgery and you would miss 8 weeks of work?

Yes, I suppose you can be if you are not covered by the FMLA for the 12 weeks of job protection it affords to employees.

But you would not be able to collect unemployment until you are released to go back to work by your doctor.
