In February of 2011, I was in an accident while sitting in the rear of a taxi. I am still on medical leave and don’t believe that I can return to my job soon. I am currently without any temp. Disability or income at all. Am I eligible for unemployment benefits?
I only know about regular unemployment benefits and of mandated short term disability insurance programs. And I know that you live in one of six states that requires some kind of coverage when a person is disabled.
Temporary disability is separate and different from the regular unemployment benefits for which you must be able and available to work. That doesn’t sound like you .. at least not right now.
However, you should check to see if you’re eligible for the assistance because you’re currently unable to work.
