I couldn’t have done it without representation!

by Crystal

(Florida)

I just had my SECOND unemployment appeal hearing. What an ordeal this entire process has been. I know I would have been drowning during the process if it wasn’t for Chris and David. They are both an invaluable resource. I was hesitant to spend what little money I had left after being denied unemployment, but let me tell you, it was the BEST money I ever spent and worth EVERY penny. The unemployment office tells you that you can do it yourself but unless your case is cut and dried, it is near impossible. I am a college graduate and I would have been completely overwhelmed without having a representative fighting for me. Thanks so much Chris and David.
PS WE WON!!

Intentional misrepresentation

by: Anonymous

I live in Mich and I am being accused of fraud for not reporting that I had quit a temp “assignment” after 3 days although I did report the income. They are calling it intentional misrepresentation and want repayment of benefits plus penalties of 4 times the amount I drew and 1% interest per month. They are not providing me an advocate because of they found that it was intentional misrepresentation. I have a hearing in 2 wks with an administrative judge but am already receiving payment due notices in the mail. I do not dispute the fact that I did not report that I quit the “assignment” which I did to attend a one day job fair for a company that would have been direct hire and a substantial increase in pay. I have talked to a lawyer and she told me she didn’t think she would be any help at the hearing since there is no dispute over whether I reported quitting. Any advice here?

What is it you’re looking for? You yourself said you do not dispute that you failed to report that you quit a job be it a temp assignment or a regular job.

Why not? Did you fail to do that intentionally because you feared your benefits might be stopped?
