I quit my job and have been denied unemployment insurance, what if it takes 5 months or more to get a job will they pay?

by Mike

(Boston, Mass)

I tried to get unemployment insurance and was denied and my appeal was denied, I have been out of work for 3 months now, is there a certain amount of time I need to be out of work before they will pay?

Hi Mike,

No, if you have been denied unemployment and then appealed and denied, they will not be giving you any unemployment for your present period of unemployment.

To be eligible in the future, you will have to return to work and if you lose the next job you get you will need to first be monetarily eligible and then eligible on the merits, which just means you were fired without good cause or you quit with good cause.
