I was fired for being late to work in North Carolina.

by reggie

(asheville, nc)

I was late to work because my car kept breaking down. now I have no way of paying my child support. I was denied at 1st now appealing. what are my chances of getting unemployment

Hi Reggie,

My first reaction is not good. You were not fired because your car kept breaking down. You fired because you were late to work.

As employees we are expected to control or make efforts to control these types of things. Take the bus instead or get a ride from a co-worker, then if something happens and we’re late to work, we at least have a valid argument that the circumstances were out of our control .. if the bus is late or the co-worker breaks down.
