not making a quota of appointments

The company has not fired me yet. In November 2009 CEO says that everyone gets to keep jobs w/no layoffs but no meritorious pay increase this year. May and June 2010 Sales Mgr gives me written discipline for not making twenty appointments in either one of those given months. I made sixteen. The quota is then lowered to eighteen appointments starting August 2010 but cancelled appointments are subtracted from that total. I have been awarded perfect attendance several times throughout the last 4 years of my employment. California is an at will state.

So .. you’re saying you haven’t been making the quota and now you have the additional problem of having canceled appts subtracted from your quota .. Have you documented all the changes the employer is making as far as quotas?

I work a production based job for appointments as well and there are issues with making quota. We are SUPPOSED to get production logs by the week but there are no efforts to have them for us. We get verbally abused every morning before working for our production and are expected to take that negative energy out in the field to be successful. It has become a strain and a stress for me. I have even went for mental counseling. My numbers have dropped and i am being threatened to quit my job or receive a pay cut. I am a trainer and have always hit my quota, but since this weight of stress I haven’t. It is getting colder and a lot harder too. They are avoiding firing me because they don’t want me to receive benefits. I don’t have documentation of these changes and don’t understand how it is a factor?

You are telling me you can no longer meet your quotas because the employer verbally abuses you in the mornings and you have gone for mental counseling due to this.

That is your issue, now do something about it. Who willingly puts up with a hostile work environment to the point they have to seek mental counseling without raising it as an issue with the employer so they can try to get it resolved. Apparently, most American workers.

As far as documents .. they are used to either prove the misconduct .. your failure to meet quotas (employer uses your success to compare to your failure to show neglect of duties) or documents prove you have good cause to quit.

Quota and Cancellations

The only way I can document is having the monthly recap sheet with the handwritten column of cancelled appointments given to me this Friday.

I meant the policy or procedural changes made to the quota formula .. or whatever they call it.
