Resistance is NOT futile!

John Ray, English naturalist and botanist (1627-1705), gave us:
“The evils of tyranny are rarely seen but by him who resists it.”

Tragically, most people rarely come to understand just how truly tyrannical an employer can be. And few things reveal this painful actuality more quickly than filing a claim for unemployment benefits.

Picture the Wizard, yes, from the movie “The Wizard of Oz”. Only this time, picture meeting first the kind, soft-spoken gentleman. You go off on your adventure and when you return, that kind gentleman has vanished and now you’re facing the loud, threatening, fire-breathing “wizard”. That’s the transformation, the Jekyll/Hyde reality of employment you will inevitably see if/when you find yourself filing for unemployment.

It *is* challenging and can seem completely overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. It does, however, require a similar transformation on your part, what can be reduced to a change of attitude.

The moment you file that first claim, *everything* about the process is legalistic. You simply have to stop thinking like a “normal” person, a now ex-employee and you have to become Joe Friday: “Just the facts, Ma’am.” (Oh, I hope you’re old enough to remember that great old TV show.)

“Resistance is futile,” the invading aliens say in science fiction. Ex-employers would have you believe the same, will try to intimidate you into believing that. I’m telling that it is NOT futile and, as Mr. Ray told us, you are indeed resisting an attitude of tyranny.

As a guy with nearly sixty employers in my past, you gotta trust me on this one: Chris has everything you could need or want on this site. You’re going into a battle, you must understand that. The weapons you need are on this site. Take full advantage of that.
