being sick when you are pregnant?

by Deb

(San Antonio, Texas)

I was about 5 months pregnant when I started to get what seemed to be “heartburn”, which usually happens during pregnancy. I did get an ultrasound and came back negative, but til this day being 7 months pregnant I still have these pains. I was put on disability due to the absences and I was not qualified for disability and my payment benefits were denied. Due to being denied I could not pay rent nor go see another doctor to check for ulcers because I had no money and my landlord was not letting sign another lease and basically kicking me and my husband out. I tried working with my union to see if I could get a match for someone who was being laid off already and could take my place and in doing that would takes months to go through and that didnt work either. So in all my only choice was to move back home 200 miles away with my parents who were the only ones willing to take us in until we get back on our feet, mind you my husband has been out of work for 4 months already as well, so no money at all was coming in. So I had to go into my office in person and write a resignation letter and told them I had to resign due to my circumstances, being pregnant and still hurting and being able to give my 100% at work and my landlord kicking us out.

Deb,

Financial hardship is generally not good causer to quit, but just in case Texas makes an exception you would be able to find it here.

But please understand .. even if they do happen to allow benefits for your situation .. you are not able to work which was why you were in that situation in the first place .. you should not have resigned .. you should have just gone to your parents .. until you were able to go back to work.
