Can I get unemployment if I quit my job for a personal reason?

by sam le blanc

(oakland CA)

I work as a security guard and have been switched from day shift to a grave yard shift for the last year and a half. I have been having issues with my sleep schedule for the last 6 months. I go to work tired and unable to keep up. I have asked my manager to transfer me to another site for a day shift, but he keeps telling me that they have no openings. He keeps making promises to me saying he will switch me as soon as something opens up. This has been going on for months without any deliverance. I have decided that the only solution for me is to quit. Am I qualified to recieve unemployment?

Hi Sam,

I believe that before you make a decision to quit you should at the very least read sections VQ235 and VQ 440 and apply the information to your personal circumstances.
