called in absence due to inclement weather

by Trevor

(Jasper, Georgia)

I had gone to a family event and it snowed and iced the roads over. I was told by my employer that if I did not get to work by the time my shift started that I was fired. The safety of myself and my other family members with me was in danger and due to the icy road conditions I could not get back to my hometown in time.

Trevor,

If the family event was some distance from work and home and you had been approved for time off or if it was on your days off .. get weather reports or advisories to support you inability to get to work on time .. so you at least have a chance of proving that the circumstances were out of your control.
