Can a person get fired if they didnt show up for a meeting if its not mandatory?

But, after the fact she said it is(new manager)? plus without verbal warning/ coaching. been there for five years without any Disciplines.

Hi,

Don’t confuse questions about unemployment benefits with general questions about whether an employer can fire you or not.

They can fire you just about any reason you can think of as long as you can’t prove it was due to some type of discrimination or retaliation.

The question is always whether the reasons you were fired is good enough to deny unemployment benefits because you were fired for willful misconduct.
