can i apply for unemployment If I was a business owner – Florida

I AM RECENTLY DIVORCED. MY EX-HUSBAND AND I OWNED THE BUSINESS. HE GOT THE BUSINESS AND I AM OUT OF A JOB OF WHICH I WORKED AT FOR 10 YEARS. IT IS AN INTERIOR DESIGN BUSINESS, WHICH OF COURSE TODAY….IS NOT DOING VERY WELL. CAN I COLLECT UNEMPLOYMENT?

I can’t say you can’t apply, but I can say they’ll find it isn’t a valid claim. The self employed can’t collect unemployment unless they had qualifying employment.

If you click “Coverage” on this page .. it explains it best.

Sorry,

Chris
