Can I collect unemployment if I have been fired for attenedance

by shenequae

(dallas texas)

I was told by my boss that i was terminated for excessive absences / tardies. I am in the state of Texas and she also told me that if I try to apply for unemployment they will fight it.

Now I did tell Texas workforce commission that i was fired for those particular reasons and I also explained how my sick mother stays with me in a 1 bedroom apartment and I am under a lot of stress? what is the best way to win this case.

Hi Shenequae,

Of course the employer will fight it.

The fact that your sick mother lives with you doesn’t really matter.

What were the reasons for the excessive absences and tardies?

That’s what matters.
