can i still collect unempoyment while working as a deckhand in alaska

by chris

(USA/AZ)

i have been on unemployment coming up on 26 weeks and have a job waiting in Valdez AK but we wont be paid till the end of the season I am going May 4 2013 till end of September 2013 can and should i file my weekly claims

Hi,

No, you cannot collect while you’re employed .. unless it’s part-time. In that case, you would continue to file, report the earnings when filing for the week you earned the wages .. not the week you finally get paid the.

If you continued to file .. it would be considered unemployment fraud Chris, and believe me, you wouldn’t like the resulting overpayment.
