Can you collect unemployment after leaving one job to start another?

(PA Unemployment Benefits)

Can you collect unemployment after leaving one job to start another?

I left one job on a Friday thinking I was starting a new job the following Monday but i couldn’t start for another week. Can I receive benefits for the week I was unemployed. I live in Philadelphia, PA

Hi,

Maybe if it last longer than one week, but you didn’t provide enough information to know if the quit would be with good cause .. or the fact of proof that you have to spend any amount of time without pay was the fault of the new job.

But we also can’t forget the fact that most states, including Pennsylvania, require all that file for unemployment to serve an unpaid waiting week even when allowed unemployment benefits. (see table 3-7)
