collecting unemployment in Florida and living in different state

by Dar

(Saint Johns, FL)

Transferred to FL 3 years ago. Company is now closing and I want to move back to N J. Can I collect my FL unemployment while I am in NJ?

Hi Dar,

Shouldn’t be a problem. Although I’d suggest moving before you file because in your type of situation you might be required to register for work through NJ by Florida and you don’t want to raise an issue of not being able and available for work while you are making the move. Here’s the link to the information. http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/ui/fileui/wkanstate.html
