Company relocating to another City unable to commute the distance

by Timothy

Company relocating to another City unable to commute the distance.

Hello,

My company is relocating to another city which is 1.5 hours from where I reside. My wife and I have only one vehicle to commute to and from work and I attend college after work. Now the company I have been working for is relocating to another city which is 1.5 hours out of my way. I only make $11.75/hr and I attend college after work. Can I apply for unemployment if I quit when the company relocates?

Hi Timothy,

When a company relocates to a different city .. they are definitely the one try to alter the conditions of employment that you accepted when you first became an employee.

TheCalifornia eligibility guide (there’s a link toward the bottom of the page). provides a section expressly, to discuss quitting due to time, distance, and travel.

You should check it out.
