Filed for disability and didnt tell unemployment

by pete

(ohio)

I recieved a kidney transplant and released to go back to work and there was not any for me so i went on unemployment
then i filed for disability because i read i could get it because of the transplant. what could happen to me. this ohio.

I don’t believe much could happen to you .. because a disability doesn’t keep you from being able and available for some sort of work .. even if you can’t do what you used to do.

Just make sure you are complying with any rules Ohio has about the “job search” .. otherwise .. that can be cause to stop your benefits .. if the rules say so.

Some states have some fairly strict rules about “seeking work” and actually conduct random job search audits.

You’d know this if you read the claimant handbook that is usually sent out by a state when someone applies for benefits.
