Fired for excessive tardiness

by candice

(birmingham,al)

I am appealing denial for UC. My former employer stated I was fired for excessive tardiness. I have worked there since September and the first time I was written up was December 23. I had some personal issues and was written up again for being late on the 24th. The next time was the final incident, on February 5th. What exactly constitutes “excessive tardiness”? I would think being written up three times in six months would not be considered “excessive”, but I don’t know how they will look at it. State is Alabama.

Candice,

Excessive tardiness is the employer’s call .. as long as they made you aware of the rules they enforce.

Whether the reasons for the tardiness were for good cause or not .. is something you need to work on proving to rebut the employer’s claim that they fired you with good cause.
