Florida – Can I collect Unemployment if laid off ALONG with my military retirement?

Retired from US Navy 2002 (20 years)
working full-time until June 2009 (laid off)

Hello:)

The resource with the answer for this question .. irregardless of the state you will be collecting unemployment from is the USDOL Nonmonetary Chartbook Table 5-16.

It says that Florida only reduces benefits if the retirement payment is coming from a base period employer. The Navy is no longer a base period employer, therefore the retirement payment from the Navy should not be deductible from your unemployment benefits.

Feel free to verify this with the State of Florida.

Chris
