Florida – Fired for using a giftcard…

by Mike

(Florida)

Hi there,
I was an assistant manager for a retail store in the state of Florida. I was fired for using a gift card that was in my mailbox ($20) that was well over a year old. They terminated me due to “knowing” that it was not my giftcard. Will I be able to collect unemployment?
Thank You.

Hi Mike,

How did that giftcard end up in your mailbox?

What does the employer’s policy state?

A violation of an employer’s “discount” policy or whatever they call the policy that addresses use of giftcards would be the guidance for your answer.
