having to stay home with my child because he gets sick and i can’t send him to daycare being sick.

(wisconsin)

we have a rule at work that states that if you are sick 6 times in 6 months. But what i don’t understand is when there is no one else there for the child and I can’t send him to daycare what am i suppose to do. They give you infractions for every time that you are gone..

Hi,

It’s always good to have documentation to back yourself up .. doctor notes, maybe even something from the daycare, but the important thing to remember is to make sure you always adhere to the employer’s call off procedures and know that having to stay home with a sick child is something beyond your control and is generally never considered misconduct if the absence you are fired for is for this reason.

They can fire you, but you should still be able to qualify for unemployment.

Document, document, document everything.
