having your employer cut your salary by 1/3?

I have been receiving a verbally agreed upon salary of $74,000.00/year as General Manager of a car dealership for the past ten years. My boss pulled me into his office last week and told me he was cutting my pay by $24,000/year….no negotiating. I have built a house and had a family budgeted around the 74K figure and am appauled that it is legal for him to just recind on his word. I quit my job that day.

Hi,

If your state denies you benefits for quitting a job for a 2/3 reduction in pay .. APPEAL!! because there should be a precedent that considers that a substantial change in the conditions of employment that would compel any reasonable person to quit.
