Response For: How long it will be before I get a unemployment hearing decision?

Hi,

Generally, I wouldn’t start worrying about when the decision will arrive unless it’s been two weeks, then I’d probably call the appeal office and find out if one has been mailed yet.

If you lose, it means you now have to appeal to the board of review .. and no one can tell you if you might win that until they have a lot more details and they usually get the details they need after hearing the recording of the hearing or reading the transcript of the hearing.

Board appeals are not the equivalent of a second chance .. although they are just as easy to file, but the argument is more legalistic than the first hearing because you are now requesting a review and whatever you have to say about that hearing is almost always presented as a written argument citing case law .. about how the hearing officer erred.

Chris

PS, I’m wondering if any of those written warnings had your signature on them and if they didn’t, whether you raised and used this effectively, when you were given the opportunity to cross examine the employer witness?

What is “legal effects” status?

by: Anonymous

I had my appeal hearing this morning here in Nevada and my appeal status online has now changed to “legal effects”, can you explain what that means? Thank you

When I googled “legal effects”, I got this:
Legal effect refers to the different legal effects that constitutional norms may generate in a specific legal system.

As for me and what that might mean within the confines of the Nevada Unemployment online system .. I would say if there is no link to a hearing decision to explain what the effects might be, I would likely assume those two words may signify your claim as being in a pending status, or awaiting an appeal decision that explains the legal effects, or lack thereof, from the hearing regarding issue on the appeal hearing notice.

Chris

I think I won

by: Anonymous

The examiner did ask if I was filing my webcast.

I really hate to be a party pooper, but I swear, it’s better to wait until you get the hearing decision in hand .. and then think you’ve won.

Of course, I get why hope floats too.

Let me know when you get your decision.

Wat did I say about the documents

by: Anonymous

I objected to them but the judge let them in I quess. But she also asked me if I ever saw any of them and she noticed that my signature was not on none of them.

Well, that’s a good thing then .. even though we don’t know if anyone offered a reasonable explanation for why your signature wasn’t on them.
