I am moving to Nevada to get married…I already get unemployment in California

(California)

I have been receiving unemployment in California. My soon to be husband lives in Reno, Nevada..

I am moving there in February 2010 as we will be getting married the end of February. How do I receive unemployment benefits while I look for work in Reno? Do I just change my address on my current California form? Or do I just register in Nevada, or both? I can’t find information on either of the Unemployment development websites for either state…Thank you for your help!!!

Hi,

I believe you are required to do both. Change your address and register as a California unemployment benefit recipient with Nevada’s Employment Security Division.

And here is California’s information for changing your address

Congratulations on your marriage and your move to Reno. I hope you and everyone who finds this question about Nevada will not only register for work, but understand every state has job and training opportunities to look into

Chris
