I live in Miami, Florida. After new part-time temp job ends, can I go back to collect from my original claim if I haven’t collected all I was granted?

(Miami, Fl, US)

After being laid off four months ago I’ve been hired as a part-time employee but I was told they need me only in a temporary basis. When the temporary job ends in a month or little over it, would I be able to collect unemployment from my original claim if I have not yet found a permanent job? (I have not collected the total amount I was granted in my original claim)

Hi,

Yes, you should be able to resume collecting unemployment benefits .. as long as your claim hasn’t expired.

But of course the state will probably “investigate” just to make sure the assignment ended because of a “lack of work” and not for some disqualifying reason.
