I was a working student who was laid off and now subsequently denied UI because of my school schedule.

by Tommy

(California)

I attended school and worked a 30-hour a week job. I was fired due to underperformance. After filing for UI in California it was determined that I wasn’t eligible because i have limitations on my hours and days that i could work. I am in the process of filing an appeal based on the fact that i could drop a class or make some changes to my schedule. My only question is i dont know what are the reguirements (available hours) that would make me eligible for UI. Do i have a chance of getting UI if i use this as my basis for appeal?

Hi Tommy,

I know of only one resource that can help you understand California’s requirements for getting unemployment while attending school.

Use the information to form your case.
