if your boss denys you to leave after telling him you had a very important appointment to go to is that legal to do ?

I HAD A VERY IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT TO GO TO AND AT FIRST I TOLD MY BOSS I HAD TO LEAVE EARLY TWO DAYS BEFORE AND HE SAID IT WAS OK, THE NEXT DAY WHEN HE ASKED ME IF I WAS LEAVING EARLY TOMORROW I SAID YES BECAUSE OF MY APPOINTMENT AND HE TOLD ME TO THAT I COULDNT BECAUSE HE CANT WORK AROUND MY SCHEDULE AFTER HE TOLD ME YEA IT WAS OK, THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT I WENT TO WORK AND WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE AT 12:30 BUT BECAUSE HE DECIDED TO HAVE A MEETING WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES I DIDNT GET TO LEAVE TILL 3:00 AND I MISSED MY APPOINTMENT
