Illinois State Law

by Lauren

(Winnetka, IL)

If the Nonprofit gets cutbacks due to state funding and decides to let an employee go, can that employee receive unemployment?

Hi Lauren,

Yes. A non profit is usually a reimbursing employer, but an employer nonetheless. A reimburser gets a bill every year for ALL benefits paid .. because they don’t contribute to a fund based on wages paid. This is why reimbursers fight unemployment claims harder than anyone.

No job due to no funding equals a lack of work claim.

The massive IDES.PDF It’s nearly 800 pages and very searchable!!
