LACK OF MATERIAL TO WORK WITH
I WORKED FOR A COMPANY SEVERAL YEARS IN ALABAMA. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO THEY DECIDED, TO KEEP BETTER TRACK OF THE GLOVES WE WEAR IN THE FACTORY, THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO SCAN OUR TIME CARDS EVERY MORNING TO GET A PAIR OF GLOVES BEFORE WORK. THE MACHINE WOULD NOT ACCEPT MY CARD SO I COULD GET WORK GLOVES, MIND YOU THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HAD TO USE THIS MACHINE. ANYWAY, OTHER EMPLOYEES TRIED TO HELP ME GET GLOVES & THEY COULD NOT GET MY CARD TO WORK EITHER. I WENT TO MY SUPERVISOR, WHO SENT ME TO ANOTHER SUPERVISOR, WHO DID NOT HELP ME EITHER. NO ONE WAS WILLING TO HELP ME GET GLOVES...I WENT TO THE PLANT MANAGER. HE DID NOT HELP ME EITHER, BY THIS TIME I AM SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE WORKING, THE LINE IS MOVING, I STILL DON'T HAVE ANY GLOVES AND CANNOT GET ANY HELP IN GETTING GLOVES TO TAKE MY PLACE ON THE ALREADY MOVING LINE AND WORK. SO, I SAID I WOULD JUST GO HOME UNTIL TOMORROW AND MAYBE I COULD GET SOME GLOVES THEN...WAS NOT SMART ABOUT THE WAY I SAID IT EITHER--I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. AND THEY SAID I WALKED OUT ON MY JOB AND THAT I VOLUNTARILY QUIT...I WANTED MY JOB AND WAS NOT QUITTING, BUT WHAT WAS I SUPPOSE TO DO--WE WORK WITH METAL AND IT WILL CUT YOU WITHOUT GLOVES...I WENT TO WORK TO WORK, I TRIED TO DO EVERYTHING I KNEW TO DO...I WAS ABOUT TO BE IN TROUBLE FOR NOT BEING ON THE LINE, BUT I HAD BEEN TRYING TO GET GLOVES BEFORE TIME TO START WORK AND STILL TRIED FOR ABOUT 7 MINUTES AFTER THE LINE STARTED RUNNING--I FEEL THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO MAKE SURE I HAD THE GLOVES I NEEDED TO WORK...
CONFUSED & WORRIED
You should be worried. What else were you to do? Ask the employer what they wanted you to do instead.
Come on .. you were an employee ... and you didn't give me any details with which I might be able to help you. I'm sure they have a policy about leaving work without permission ..
You just gave me a lame argument that won't work to get you unemployment benefits ..
Seriously, don't you think it's going to be relevant what all those people you went to to help you might have to say about what they told you .. is it against the employers rules to work without gloves? Is it required by OSHA that you wear gloves? How didn't they help you?
