my employer is requiring all employees to take 40 hrs. mandatory time off without pay… can i file for unemployment for this week? Florida

Hi Rey,

I believe you can, BUT Florida has mandatory ” one week unpaid waiting period you must serve. This means in essence that anyone who gets unemployment benefits must go without wages or benefits for one week before benefits will be paid .. for some reason .. unknown to me.

But if you do establish a claim .. you would be able to collect in the event you have another week off.
