unemployment in az if recently ?

by darryl

(Phoenix,arizona)

I just retired from the military on 30 june 2009 am i eligible for unemployment benefits in Arizona and will the amount be affected by my retirement pay?

Hi Darryl,

Voluntary retirement is a non-qualifying quit. However, compulsory retirement is considered a discharge in Arizona and not for misconduct, therefore qualifying. When you file for unemployment from a branch of the military .. benefits are determined by the laws of the state you file in.

In addition, retirement payments may have an effect on unemployment benefits if the retirement is from a base period employer.

Here’s the state by state resource which answers your question. Nonmonetary Table 5-16
