Unemployment while a f/t student and now on bed rest

(NY Unemployment Benefits and School)

I reside in Nassau county, New York. I was approve for the 599 program to attend school full-time to complete my master. I was recently place on bedrest due to high risk pregnancy and am unable to complete my last semester. Will I still get unemployment or will I have to claim disability.

Response To: Unemployment while a f/t student and now on bed rest

Hi,

That’s a good question, I would never have never thought of addressing that question on my own.

But, regular unemployment eligibility requirement of being able and available forced the reasoning that if you have to be able to work and collect .. you must also be to train when they allow that to substitute for looking for work.

section 2000 of the NY Unemployment Resource is where I ended up. 2040C looked like a good place to start drilling for the answer.
