Can I collect unemployment if I have been fired for someone else claiming I made a statement

If I get fired for someone claiming I made a statement I did not make can I collect unemployment? I am currently suspended and unsure of the outcome.


Hi Dennis,

It will entirely depend on whether the employer can prove there was good cause for firing you, either at the initial level or later at an appeal hearing.

If it's a he said/she said situation an employer might fire you, but sustaining their burden of proof could prove difficult without the testimony of the accuser.
